Our Student Lotte Knold who has been with us training for the last few months is now DANISH CHAMPION!! This was what she was training for and this is why she did not fight for Santai, in Thailand. Big congrats to an always smiling, eager to learn and simply awesome student training harder than anyone!
Danial “Mini T” spent 3 weeks at Santai Gym in December 2011, to improve his fight skills, and to fight in thailand. He fought for Santai at ThaPhae Stadium where he dominated the fight and won by TKO. Danial has been back in Australia and training for a big championship title fight for the WKN Western Australia Belt. On Saturday February 11, Danial won the fight with a 5th round TKO, and dropped us a line on our facebook page saying:
“Thanks everyone! and thank you Santai Muay Thai felt a lot of improvement coming back from my training camp with you guys!”
Danial is coming back to Santai this moth for more training and more fighting, as well as another short trip in June:

Creative Training with Kru Apple at Santai Gym
#1. Kicking Exercise – Kru Apple using a hand wrap to tie the student’s hand to his forehead, so that the student can practice keeping his hand up in guard position while kicking. This helps with improving, and gaining good technique.
#2. Kru Apple using a glove stuck to the end of the teaching stick, and uses it to jab the student while he push kicks. This improves defense while push kicking. While push kicking, you must be slightly leaned back in order to avoid punches from the opponent.
Muay Thai Kick Footwork :
In this video, Kru Phon is helping Steve (UK) with his footwork while kicking. Steve has started training at Santai 3 days ago and this is his first time doing Muay Thai. He already knows how to kick but needs to learn more footwork and recovering back into his stance after kicking, and keeping his hands up. Kru Phon fixes him while he hits the bag with the helpful use of Phon’s teaching stick.
Ryan W.Santai’s Fight from December 30th, 2011. Ryan won by TKO in the 2nd round. His opponent kicked Ryan’s guard and his leg made a very loud snapping noise. His leg may have broke, but we don’t know for sure. Ryan is fighting again on Feb 20th, at Kalare Stadium.
Sit-ups & Pullups:
Kru Doh showing Clinch Technique to Lotte from Denmark:
Tonight, January 10th, 2012, Nick Salvino W.Santai (Australia) fought at Kalare Stadium, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Nick accepted this fight the day before, as our originally scheduled fighter Ryan W.Santai has had the flu all week and could not fight. Nick Salvino fought an aggressive and exciting fight with good kicks and lots of power through all 5 rounds, and both fighters going back and forth at each other. Nick lost in decision at the end to the Thai fighter. Nick will meet this opponent in the ring again and have a rematch after he can prepare for the fight properly.
