Orphan to Rising star of the North 2018‚ Muay Thai Fighter, Palangboon Wor. Santai.

Born in Mae Siriang, village Kilo 4 in northwestern Thailand close to the Myanmar border, Rakwicha Daorueangsodsai also known as Chuy or fighter name Palangboon is a member of the Karen hill tribe people. Becoming an orphan when he was an infant, Chuy was cared for by family and village members before being sent to Santai Muay Thai Gym in San Kamphaeng Chiang Mai by the town village Mayor at just ten years old.

Like many Karen people, Chuy had no identification card which meant he was not registered by the Thai government. Without any form of ID, Chuy was not permitted to fight in Bangkok. So for the first few years upon arriving at Santai Muay Thai Gym Chuy fought at local stadiums and festivals saving all his earnings to pay for blood tests to be able to register for a Thai ID card for himself and his two brothers, which he finally got in November 2016.

Since receiving his ID card, Chuy took the next step in his fighting career. From fighting locally in North Thailand to fighting in the Muay Thai capital in stadiums such as the famous Rajadamnern, Lumpinee, Channel 3 and 7 in Bangkok. With now a record of six fights and six wins in Bangkok Chuy is making a name for himself and on occasion has received tips ranging from 20,000- 30,000 baht from Muay Thai gamblers.

But not like most teenagers, instead of celebrating his success in Bangkok, Chuy saved his earnings again and returned home in 2018 to build himself a home at the age of just 18. Chuy predicts he has spent a total of nearly 100,000 baht in building the perfect home to live in once he eventually retires from fighting Muay Thai professionally.

His success and dedication to the sport has not gone un noticed and on the 29th July 2019, Chuy was awarded‚ Rising star of the North 2018‚ by Muay Siam. Congratuations Chuy!
